For those inquiring there has been a lot this year for Derek and I. So much that I didn’t think the annual walk would even happen.
I never mind sharing our journey but I never thought it would be necessary to make such a personal statement. So regardless of why the inquiries are coming in, I will say this life has been far from dull.
Derek was not in school from 12/20/23 until 6/17/24 which puts tremendous stress on him and his single mother.
I have been under intense medical observation since 1/4/2024. On top of Multiple Sclerosis and POTS, I have a major artery that is crushed. This artery supplies blood to every organ in my abdomen. With it almost completely occluded I experience extreme pain, nausea, vomiting and spells of passing out. This is extremely dangerous when derek and I live alone. The artery has been operated on several times over the last 20 years and for them to attempt to go in again would take my life. Alternate treatments have to be chosen after many invasive tests. There has not been a week since January I have not had a test, procedure or specialist appointment and then worked the four other week days. I have missed so much work Derek and I didn’t even take our annual trip to Cape Cod.
Things are slowly improving medically over the last 30 days and Derek is now in a wonderful school. Walk with Derek is regrouping, adding new board members and planning amazing things. As always anyone can reach out to me directly with any questions.

Jenn
